On the night before his final newscast as the anchor of the CBS Evening News, Scott Pelley blamed President Trump and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders for the violence that has erupted across the country...notably in Alexandria, Virginia on Wednesday.
es, a lot of the extreme rhetoric needs to get under control, especially on social media. But both Pelley and CBS should be careful before making remarks like this. Laying blame at someone who had nothing to do with another nutcase's violence is also pretty dangerous, as the New York Times could find out the hard way.
While Pelley has been ousted from the CBS anchor desk, he will continue as a journalist on 60 Minutes. Hopefully he does a little more research before going in front of the camera for his pieces on that show.
