A Virginia woman who was fired from her job after a photo of her flipping off President Donald Trump's motorcade in 2017 went viral, has found a new one after becoming the newest member of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday with over 52% of the vote.

Juli Briskman was thrust into the national spotlight after a photo of her flipping off the president's motorcade captured by a news photographer in October 2017 went viral. Trump was departing the Trump National Golf Course after finishing a round of golf when his motorcade passed Briskman, who expressed her displeasure with the president's policies by raising a middle finger to black SUVs.

About a week later, Briskman was forced to resign from her job at Akima, a federal contractor in Herndon, Va., after the company said she violated their policies by posting the image of her impromptu protest online. She successfully argued in court that the firing violated her freedom of speech, ultimately winning a severance package from her former employer, according to The Washington Post.

“I just got angry,” she told the New York Times at the time. “I lifted my arm and started flipping him off. I started thinking, You’re golfing again when there is so much going on right now.”

Now, after defeating the Republican incumbent with 52.4% of the vote, Briskman, a longtime resident of the county, will represent the same district that contains the golf course Trump had been leaving when she flipped him off in 2017.

Briskman won the district after campaigning on a series of issues including funding local schools and expanding green spaces in the community.
