This could have been a disaster!
Investigators are looking into what caused a ten-year-old boy to go flying off a recently opened slide at The Wave water park in Dublin, California, located about 40 minutes east of San Francisco. They spent most of yesterday at "The Wave" checking out the recently opened Emerald Plunge after the boy suffered minor injuries.
Dublin Assistant City Manager Linda Smith says the park is considering adding a weight restriction to the slide, but will have to talk to the manufacturer first. The city-owned park could also change the water flow. The slide cost $43 million to make, but is closed until further notice.
Not a good start to the summer there, but could have been worse.
And since I started searching for water slide videos until I found that news clip, this is a slide that looks like it could be more dangerous, but much more fun:

I will always take the water slide you are SUPPOSED to fly off of compared to the one that just happens. That little lake seems like a much better landing spot than slabs of concrete.
