FLORIDA - Florida has once again been identified as the top state for single adults in a new nationwide analysis examining dating opportunities, economic factors and quality of life.

According to the latest WalletHub ranking of the best states for singles, Florida earned the highest overall score among all 50 states.

The study evaluated states using nearly 30 data points across categories that measure dating opportunities, dating related economics and overall lifestyle factors that influence social life.

Metrics included the percentage of single adults in each state, the balance of single men to single women, the number of attractions and entertainment venues per capita, and the cost of dating activities.

Researchers also analyzed employment rates, income levels and housing affordability to assess how economic conditions may impact singles.

Florida scored particularly well in dating opportunities and romance and entertainment related categories.

The state’s large population, tourism driven economy and concentration of restaurants, nightlife venues and recreational activities contributed to its high ranking.

Analysts noted that access to beaches, theme parks and year round outdoor activities also factored into the lifestyle portion of the study.

The report compared Florida with other highly populated states such as New York, California and Texas, which also ranked near the top but did not surpass Florida’s combined score.

Lower ranked states generally had smaller single populations, fewer social venues or weaker economic indicators tied to young adult employment.

WalletHub’s findings are based on publicly available data and weighted calculations designed to measure where single adults may have the most favorable conditions for meeting people and maintaining social lives.
