(Cape Canaveral, FL) - NASA will attempt a critical test for the first lunar flight since the 70's Monday.

Saturday's planned test has been postponed due to cold weather.

NASA will simulate a mission countdown of the Artemis II Space Launch System rocket.

"The SLS wet dress rehearsal will simulate a mission countdown for ground teams to power on and fuel the rocket as a final qualifying check before Artemis 2 launches to the moon." according to NASA.

The official launch date of Artemis II will be determined after the critical preflight fueling test Monday. Currently launch window is set for February 8th through 10th.

The mission includes a crew of four astronauts circling the moon but not landing on the lunar surface.

It's hoped Artemis will eventually take humans to Mars.
