Miami-Dade Commissioners Get Update On Trash Incinerator Plans

Miami-Dade Commissioners getting a progress report today from the two companies working on a joint proposal for the multibillion-dollar waste-to-energy trash incinerator. Commissioner Raquel Regalado says she's looking forward to hearing from FPL and FCC Environmental Services about next steps. A site has not yet been decided, but it will most likely be in District 12 in an industrial area on the west side of the county. A final vote is expected in February or March. Miami-Dade's old incinerator burned down in Doral three years ago.
