Today, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson announced that the State of Florida will once again step aside and remove any government red tape that could interfere with Santa Claus as he makes his Christmas Eve journey across the Sunshine State.
Emergency Order 2025-CHRISTMAS makes clear that Santa Claus does not need permits, paperwork, approvals, or government permission of any kind to deliver Christmas cheer to Florida families. Instead, the order ensures that state and local requirements will not stand in his way.
“In Florida, we don’t regulate Christmas – we protect it by getting government out of the way,” said Commissioner Wilton Simpson. “Santa doesn’t need permission to do what he’s always done. This order simply guarantees that bureaucracy won’t slow him down.”
The order will automatically apply each year on December 24 and December 25, reinforcing Florida’s commitment to faith, family, and long-standing Christmas traditions.
