Miami, FL - A disturbance inside a Miami gym led to an arrest after an encounter between a member and an employee allegedly turned violent, according to police.
Miami police officers responded to a Planet Fitness location in the Little Havana area on the morning of December 12th following reports of a disorderly person inside the business.
According to the arrest report, officers were told a female gym member had been causing a disturbance inside the locker room area and later in the parking lot.
Investigators say the situation escalated when a Planet Fitness employee asked the woman to lower her voice and warned that police would be contacted if the behavior continued.
The report states the woman allegedly became aggressive and moved toward the employee, prompting him to push her away in an attempt to create distance.
Surveillance video reviewed by police reportedly shows the woman leaving the locker room, putting on shoes, and returning to the front desk area.
She allegedly jumped over the counter into an employee only space and chased the worker through the gym.
Police say she struck the employee multiple times in the face with a closed fist while he attempted to shield himself.
The employee sustained facial injuries and was later transported to a hospital, where he was treated for a broken nose, according to statements included in the report.
After the incident, the woman allegedly attempted to leave the scene in a vehicle but was stopped in the parking lot until officers arrived.
Police noted that she admitted to confronting the employee and acknowledged striking him.
The woman was arrested on charges of battery and disorderly conduct in an establishment.
Her bond was set at 150 dollars.
Planet Fitness stated the individual is no longer permitted at the gym.
