Pompano Beach, FL - Authorities are investigating an incident involving two individuals allegedly disposing of construction debris into a Pompano Beach canal.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), officers responded on Saturday following reports of workers discarding debris into the waterway.

Footage released by the FWC on Tuesday purportedly shows the individuals dropping roofing materials into the canal.

FWC posted on X (formerly Twitter) "Recently, our officers responded to a Wildlife Alert tip reporting the illegal dumping of construction debris in a canal. Further investigation revealed the two illegal immigrants were wanted by Customs and Border Patrol. Both were arrested for the violation and taken into custody by CBP. #BrowardCounty."

Efforts to verify the identities of the pair through state databases were unsuccessful, leading officers to contact U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

CBP agents determined that both individuals were in the country illegally.

They were subsequently detained by CBP and issued criminal notices for the alleged illegal dumping.
