Today was originally supposed to mark the start of a trial in Fort Pierce for the man accused of trying to kill then-candidate Donald Trump at his West Palm Beach golf course.
The trial for Ryan Routh was postponed by Federal Judge Aileen Cannon to September 8th, though defense attorneys wanted even more time.
Routh is accused of pointing a gun through a fence at Trump International Golf Club last September while the now-President was playing a round.
This was the second assassination attempt and Palm Beach Sheriff Ric Bradshaw last week requested $45 million from the county to help protect the president when he visits.
"We cannot let something bad happen for the third time."
The 58 year old Routh has pleaded not guilty to attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate and other charges.
