Miami-Dade, FL - A South Florida man alleges that intruders broke into his property, stole hundreds of his birds, and poisoned his dogs.
On Wednesday morning, Southwest Miami-Dade resident Michel Ojito discovered four of his dogs deceased.
Upon further inspection, he realized that approximately 300 of his birds, including parrots and parakeets, had been stolen from his property.
Surveillance footage provided by Ojito shows several individuals exiting a truck and scaling the fence to access his property.
Ojito believes these individuals poisoned his dogs before stealing the birds.
Speaking through private investigator Jose Alfonso, Ojito expressed profound distress over the loss of his animals, equating the death of his dogs to losing family members.
He emphasized his desire for the perpetrators to be held accountable.
Ojito, who breeds and sells birds, is now seeking assistance from neighbors and the broader community.
He urges collective cooperation with law enforcement to apprehend those responsible, noting that while the theft is distressing, the killing of his dogs is particularly unjust.
Reports indicate that another dog in a neighboring property may have also been poisoned. Miami-Dade detectives have visited Ojito's home as part of their investigation.
