Miami-Dade Sheriff's Deputy Busted With Drugs In Skittles Bags

An informant is credited with tipping off the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Department about a drug trafficking cop.

The agency reportedly received information in December that the informant bought a dozen MDMA (ecstasy) pills from 36 year old Deputy Francisco Javier Melo in exchange for $240. According to the report, Melo was planning on attending a music festival aboard Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas cruise ship, and intended to smuggle the drugs onto the ship by concealing them inside Skittles candy bags.

He was taken into custody at Port Miami, did not resist to a search, where 60 MDMA pills were found within five Skittles bags. Charges include trafficking.
