Martin County is about to break ground on its first use of the state's Live Local Act, which incentivizes developers to build affordable housing.

But this new 300 unit apartment complex to be called Baron Landings is not making everyone in Stuart happy.

“I, like many other residents who have lived here for years, am not happy that this place is becoming like another big city.”

40 percent of the units will be designated as affordable housing, but the development will also include 16,000 square feet of retail, including the area's first Del Taco and a Starbucks.

The property is going up along busy Kanner Highway. CBS 12 News reports work will begin on the retail side in a couple of months.
