A Treasure Coast Congressman marked "Law Enforcement Appreciation Day" yesterday by introducing a bill in the House that would honor a lost state trooper.

Republican Representative Brian Mast says he wants to rename a Port St. Lucie post office in honor of Florida Highway Patrolman Zachary Fink who died in the line of duty last year.

The trooper was killed while pursuing a fleeing suspect who has an extensive criminal history.

The U.S. Post Office that would bear Fink's name would be located along Peacock Boulevard, near St. Lucie West Boulevard and I-95.

Mast in a statement says the trooper "dedicated his life to making our community a safer place and will be remembered as someone people could count on. He calls Fink "a hero who should never be forgotten."
