(Palm Beach, FL) -- President-elect Trump taps campaign manager Susie Wiles as his White House chief of staff.
The veteran Florida political strategist will become the first woman to hold that post.
Wiles, 67, was Trump's campaign senior adviser and ran his campaigns in Florida in both 2016 and 2020.
Trump said in a statement that Wiles, who is the daughter of legendary NFL sportscaster Pat Summerall, just "helped him achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history."
He added that Wiles is "tough, smart, innovative and is universally admired and respected."
Wiles worked for Republicans for years and was co-chair of Romney’s Florida advisory council during his 2012 presidential bid.
She also ran Sen. Rick Scott’s 2010 campaign for Florida governor.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, once Trump’s chief rival for the GOP presidential nomination, called Wiles a “great choice” for chief of staff.
