South Florida Child Seriously Injured In Accidental Flare Gun Shooting

Miami-Dade, FL - A two-year-old boy was critically injured after an accidental shooting involving a flare gun in South Florida on Thursday.

According to Miami-Dade Police, the incident occurred at a residence on Northwest 103rd Street and Northwest 32nd Place in West Little River.

While work was being done on a boat parked in the backyard, the child managed to access the flare gun.

The child’s grandfather explained that the flare burned the boy’s finger before bouncing off his chest.

The extent of the injuries and the circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.

Emergency responders transported the child to the hospital via helicopter.

While initial reports indicated the child was in critical condition, the grandfather later expressed optimism about the child's recovery.
