A drug dealer will serve 30 years in federal prison in connection with the death of a baby.
36-year old Darnell Mendez was sentenced this week in the case involving a 10-month-old infant from Boynton Beach who had ingested fentanyl back in 2022.
Investigators determined that Mendez and his girlfriend Samantha Yi sold the drugs to the baby's mother.
Yi will be sentenced in January and faces no less than 20 years.
Both pleaded guilty to distribution of fentanyl resulting in the death of a baby and Mendez was also convicted of possession of firearms as a convicted felon.
