According to Local 10 News WPLG, nearly 40 confirmed tornadoes and 126 tornado warnings across the state as Hurricane Milton made its way to Florida.

Residents of the gated Avenir Palm Beach Gardens community reported damage to several homes, including one in the nearby unincorporated Loxahatchee area.

A newly constructed Publix store in the development also sustained damage.

While South Florida was largely spared from the storm's most severe impacts, Milton made landfall on the west coast of the state as a Category 3 hurricane.

According to NBC News, as of Thursday night, 14 people in Florida died as a result of the storm.
