Researchers May Have Cracked Autism Code

Researchers at the University of Virginia say they've come up with a test to diagnose the genetic markers of autism in brain images with 89-to 95% accuracy. Pediatric Neurologist, Dr. Abigail Ley at Nicklaus Children's Hospital says this means doctors may soon be able to classify and treat autism without having to rely on behavioral cues. This information could also result in earlier interventions. Autism is typically a clinical, behavioral diagnosis based on social, communication and engagement deficits.
