Boynton Beach Police are warning about a new red light camera.

It's located at the intersection of Boynton Beach Boulevard and Northwest 8th Street and monitors traffic headed westbound.

It's been in the warning phase but starting today, if a driver runs the red light, they will be issued a $158 fine.

Police say that's a civil violation and will not impact the driver's driving record with no points assessed. But they point out that if the fine is not paid within sixty days, it will convert to a uniform traffic citation of $264 and points will be added to the driver's driving record.
