Sen. Rick Scott, Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Win Florida Primary

Incumbents Florida Senator Rick Scott easily won the Republican primary yesterday with over 84 percent of the vote over two challengers.

He'll face Democrat Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in November on his way to secure another term.

The Democrat won her party's primary with almost 69 percent of the vote over three challengers.

Meanwhile, Florida Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz beat out Aaron Dimmock, who had the support of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, ousted in an effort led by Gaetz.

Gaetz won with more than 72 percent of the vote in District One and will face Democrat Gay Valimont in November, who won the primary un-contested.

Incumbent Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, who represents Broward County won her primary handily and will face Republican challenger Chris Eddy in November.

Wasserman Schultz beat attorney Jennifer Perelman who ran against Wasserman Schultz in 2020 and lost.

Incumbent Mario Diaz-Balart won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in Florida’s 26th Congressional District in Tuesday's primary.

Diaz-Balart is the longest-serving member of Florida's congressional delegation and will face Democrat Joey David Atkins, an attorney and sports agent who's the only Democrat running this year, in November's election.

Incumbent Maria Elvira Salazar won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in Florida’s 27th Congressional District in Tuesday's primary.

Democrat Lucia Baez-Geller, a Miami-Dade County School Board member since 2020, defeated Mike Davey, the former mayor for Key Biscayne.

Across the state, eleven school board members backed by Governor Ron DeSantis lost.
