Complete Primary Election Results In The Palm Beaches & Treasure Coast

Primary results in the Palm Beaches/Treasure Coast:

U.S. House -

In the Republican primary for CD 21, Brian Mast has fought off a challenge from Rick Wiles by an 86 to 14 percent margin. Mast will face Democrat Thomas Witkop and NPA Elizabeth Felton in November.

In Congressional District 22, Dan Franzese has won the Republican primary for the second year in a row. He will once again face incumbent Democrat Lois Frankel in the general.

Congressional District 23 - the Southern Palm Beach County and Broward County district which is currently held by Democrat Jared Moskowitz. Joe Kaufman wins the Republican Primary, beating five candidates, including former Democrat Palm Beach County Commissioner Robert Weinroth.

In Indian River and Brevard Counties, the race for Congressional District 8 was on the ballot. It's an open seat being vacated by Republican Bill Posey and the candidate he endorsed has won the GOP Primary. Former Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos easily beat two opponents, one of whom had withdrawn from the race last week but was still on the ballot. In the general election, Haridopolos will face Sandy Kennedy, who beat one opponent in the Democrat primary.

There was one Palm Beach County Commission race on the ballot this primary...in District 7...where state Senator Bobby Powell captured about two-thirds of the vote to beat former West Palm Beach Commissioner Richard Ryles. Powell will face Republican Leonard Serratore along with two write in candidates in November.

There will be a couple of run-offs on the November ballot for Palm Beach County School Board.

In District 1, Matthew Jay Lane and Page Lewis were the top two vote-getters and in District 5, former Palm Beach County Democratic Party Chair Mindy Koch will battle it out with Gloria Branch, the daughter of former PBC Schools Superintendent Art Johnson. District 2 was won by Virginia Savietto, who ran unopposed.

The November race for Palm Beach County Sheriff is known. Incumbent Sheriff Ric Bradshaw emerges from the Democrat Primary with a win over Alex Freeman, someone he faced four years ago. Bradshaw and his former longtime Chief Deputy Michael Gauger will go against one another in the general election. Gauger fought off his opponent and former PBSO Captain Lauro Diaz in the Republican Primary.

FLORIDA HOUSE RACES for seats in the Palm Beaches -

In District 89, Debra Tendrich takes the Democrat Primary and she will face Republican Daniel Zapata in the general.

District 92 - No election-Democrat Kelly Skidmore drew no challengers.

District 94 - Meg Weinberger won a four person race for the Republican Primary and will face off against Democrat and former Palm Beach Gardens Council member Rachelle Litt in November.

The general election race for Palm Beach County State Attorney will feature Democrat Alexcia Cox and Republican Sam Stern, who won their respective primaries last night. There will also be an independent on the ballot in November, Adam Farkas.

The Palm Beach County Public Defender race was a Democrat primary but was essentially an outright race, with an outright winner. Daniel Eisinger beat former Delray Beach Commissioner Adam Frankel and will be the next public defender.

The nonpartisan race for Palm Beach County Judge, Group 2 (to fill an open seat behind the bench) - Lourdes Casanova is the top vote-getter over two other candidates.

Incumbent Varissa Dass has won the Port of Palm Beach Commission Group 2 Democrat primary over two challengers and will face Republican Ted Sarandis and a write-in candidate in November.

PBC Ballot Question 1 - Aimed at attracting businesses and granting them incentives to move to the county...the question asked whether voters want to reauthorize those incentives for another 10 years. 62 percent of voters said yes in favor of giving the county authority to grant exemptions.

MARTIN COUNTY RACES -

County Commission District 1 Race - GOP Primary-Eileen Vargas defeated the incumbent longtime Commissioner Doug Smith but can't win the seat outright until after the November election, with a write-in candidate.

The other two races are being decided in the primary.

District 3 Republican primary was to fill the seat of Harold Jenkins, who is stepping down. Blake Capps wins against two opponents.

Incumbent District 5 Commissioner, Republican Ed Ciampi beat two opponents to keep his seat in the Republican primary there that was open to all voters.

One School Board race in the primary, for District 2 - Incumbent Marsha Powers defeats challenger Sydney Thomas.

City of Stuart Commission races - The incumbents both lost. Mayor Becky Bruner falling to Laura Giobbi and Commissioner Troy McDonald losing a challenge to newcomer Sean Reed.

There was also one ballot question for Stuart voters, asking if the city should enter into a long-term lease of the Stuart Heritage Museum, known as the Stuart Feed Store. The yes votes have it.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY RACES-

There was one Republican primary for Sheriff. Incumbent Sheriff Eric Flowers won the race but will still face a write-in candidate in November.

Tax Collector Carole Jean Jordan wins re-election.

County Commission-

Republican primary in District 1-Incumbent Susan Adams fended off one challenger and keeps her seat.

District 3-Incumbent Joe Earman will stay in office after defeating two challengers.

District 5-

Incumbent Laura Moss won her Republican primary against Tracey Zudans but must be on the November ballot due to a write in candidate in this race.

School Board -

District 3 Incumbent Peggy Jones beat challenger Robert MacCallum

District 5 Incumbent Kevin McDonald lost to challenger David Dyer
