Florida's Chief Financial Officer has announced an Unclaimed Property Auction in West Palm Beach.

Jimmy Patronis says it's happening this weekend, with a preview of the items up for grabs on Friday.

"There are thousands of outstanding and rare items to bid on...gold rings, rubies, diamonds, rare coins, baseball cards, maybe even a necklace or watch or two."

The CFO says the more than 66,000 items were left abandoned in safe deposit boxes at Florida banks.

Proceeds from the auction will be used to help fund education.

After the 24 hour preview that begins at 9 a.m. Friday, the auction begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday in-person at the Embassy Suites hotel on Belvedere Road near Palm Beach International Airport.
