Gov. DeSantis Played in Little League World Series, Congratulates Lake Mary

The Little League Baseball World Series begins today, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is cheering on Lake Mary.

"Congrats to Lake Mary on earning a spot in the Little League World Series," DeSantis posted on X, formerly Twitter. "Good luck in Williamsport!"

Lake Mary is representing the Southeast Region and takes on the Midwest Region team Sioux Falls tonight at 7 p.m.

The Little League World Series is an international baseball tournament for 12-year-old players is kicking off today in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and has been the start for many professional athletes and politicians.

In fact, DeSantis was a ballplayer growing up in Dunedin and played third base and pitched on the team that made it to the Little League World Series quarterfinals in 1991.

Lake Mary is now the fourth Central Florida team to make it to the World Series, although none has won yet.
