A Treasure Coast Brightline station is one step closer to becoming a reality.
The city of Stuart has voted to approve a Brightline station being built along Flagler Avenue.
The agreement has the city putting $30 million toward the project while Martin County would pay $15 million for planning and design along with an additional $800,000 for marketing the new station.
Brightline would cover maintenance, operation, tax and insurance.
In a statement, Brightline called Monday's unanimous vote "one of the final steps necessary to deliver a station to Martin County."
Next step? The county commission will vote on the agreement at its August 27th meeting.
