Security has been beefed up at Mar-a-Lago since last month's assassination attempt on former President Trump.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw says there are deputies at the Palm Beach estate, along with Secret Service agents 24-7.

"He's at the same level as he was when he was the president."

And the costs have gone up quite a bit...

"Depending on if he's here or not and going places it can average around $80,000 a day up to $125,000."

That's because deputies are stationed not only at Trump's home, but along the surrounding waterways and with road closures along Southern and South Ocean Boulevards.

Bradshaw tells CBS 12 News that those extra costs were NOT in this year's budget and Palm Beach County Mayor Maria Sachs was surprised to hear the figures. But she says she's not overly concerned.

"Now, does that mean that we're flush with money and we've got all these extra treasury bonds waiting here to take care of this? Absolutely not, but we will not short shrift anybody who needs that protection."

Both Sachs and Bradshaw expect to be reimbursed by the feds.
