A new poll seems to contradict political speculation that "Florida is in play."

A new poll finds former President Donald Trump is up by seven points in Florida over likely Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

The survey by the Public Opinion Research Lab at the University of North Florida shows voters support Trump over Harris by 49-to-42 percent.

“It’s not a huge surprise to see Trump ahead in his home state of Florida, which he won by three points in 2020,” said PORL faculty director and professor of political science Dr. Michael Binder. “With Harris just entering the race, enthusiasm amongst her supporters has livened up what was once thought to be an easy win for Trump in Florida.”

In Florida's U.S. Senate race, incumbent Republican Rick Scott is favored over his democrat challenger 47-to-43 percent.
