Man Arrested For DUI After Driving Wrong Way On One-Way Street

Arcadia, FL - A Florida man was arrested for driving under the influence after being caught driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street with two children in the vehicle.

According to police, 34-year-old Nicholas Kahl was observed driving an SUV in the wrong direction on a one-way street near Arcadia police headquarters on July 4th.

After being pulled over, Kahl appeared disoriented, accidentally handing the officer a receipt instead of his driver's license.

When approaching the vehicle, officers detected a strong smell of alcohol on Kahl's breath and found a marijuana vape and a marijuana cigarette inside the vehicle, where the two children were seated.

Kahl refused to cooperate with field sobriety tests or provide further identification, leading to his arrest.

An investigation revealed Kahl has three prior DUI convictions.

He was charged with DUI (fourth offense), child neglect, refusal to submit to testing, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kahl was booked at the DeSoto County Jail, where he awaits further legal proceedings.

The children were released to custody of their mother.
