LIVE COVERAGE: Cat-1 Hurricane Beryl Makes Landfall in Texas

Hurricane Beryl is making landfall near Matagorda, Texas, about 90 miles southwest of Houston. The Category 1 storm is bringing heavy rains and winds to the Texas coast.

The National Hurricane Center puts the storm's maximum sustained winds at 80 miles per hour.

There's a risk of flooding and tornadoes as the storm moves across the region.

At least 11 people have been killed by the storm in the Caribbean and Mexico.
