It's July First and that means new laws take effect today in Florida. Among them, new penalties for drag racing. Miami Police Officer Michael Vega says under the new law maximum fines for first-time offenses will increase from one-to-two-thousand-dollars. People who commit second offenses within a year could face third-degree felony charges along with a fine of up to-4-thousand-dollars. Other laws include no protections for outdoor workers, no more balloon releases, free swimming lessons, and Floridians can now shoot and kill bears in self-defense.
