A deadly police involved shooting investigation is underway in Miami's Edgewater neighborhood. One person is dead, reportedly a woman, yet to be identified.
A City of Miami police officer allegedly forced to shoot while responding to a call by the woman's roommate in an apartment in the area of NE 2nd Avenue and 25th Street off Biscayne Boulevard.
No officer was hurt. After repeated calls to drop a knife, the woman is said to have lunged toward officers. She apparently had a history of mental health battles.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now handling the case.
