The Supreme Court is rejecting a challenge to the law that allows a person who has been the subject of a domestic violence restraining order to be temporarily disarmed.
The 8-1 decision was handed down by Friday by the high court.
Justice John Roberts said, "Since the founding, our Nation's firearm laws have included provisions preventing individuals who threaten physical harm to others from misusing firearms."
The court's three liberal justices and five of the six conservative justices backed the decision.
Justice Clarence Thomas was the lone dissenting voice.
