Floridians are being warned to verify that a cosmetic surgeon is licensed, certified and properly trained before having any work done.

This after four arrests have been made in connection with the now defunct Cosmetica Plastic Surgery and Anti-Aging in Port St. Lucie. Police say they were doing some major body work without an actual doctor present.

“They were doing liposuction procedures. They were doing fat injections. They were doing Brazilian butt lifts. They were doing breast augmentations. So, you can imagine the areas of the body that received infections.”

Assistant Police Chief Leo Niemczyk tells CBS 12 News that 51-year old Adley DaSilva was only a physican assistant and he was helped on the surgeries by his wife, who also held no license. Two others were also arrested.

Four patients reported serious infections from the surgeries.

The investigation began in 2022 and state health officials took Cosmetica's license a year later.
