Drive-Thru Chaos Leads to Lakeland Woman's Assault Charge

LAKELAND -- A woman who worked at a McDonald's restaurant in Lakeland now faces criminal charges over a drive-thru incident that started with an argument over an order.

Lakeland police say early Friday morning (1:00 a.m.), some customers at the store on 700 East Memorial Boulevard complained that their order was incorrect. Police say 22-year-old Chassidy Gardner argued with them at the drive-thru window, and threw a drink as they tried to leave. Two customers got out and threw drinks at Gardner, who police say then armed herself with a handgun.

The customers drove around the side and Gardner walked outside and fired at them as they left the parking lot, striking their car at least once. No one was hurt. She faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
