A former Palm Beach County high school principal and assistant principal who faced criminal charges are now heading back to work.

Darren Edgecomb was the principal of Palm Beach Central High last year when he and four staffers were accused of failing to report a suspected sexual assault between two students. Even though it allegedly happened off-campus, the state mandates that school employees who are told about abuse involving a student must report it.

A judge granted a motion by assistant principal Daniel Snider to dismiss the charge against him and later Edgecomb and the others had their charges dropped because the alleged victim was unable to recall "material aspects" of the case.

The School Board on Wednesday evening is expected to approve Edgecomb becoming a principal on assignment to support the Department of Charter Schools and Snider becoming assistant principal at Royal Palm Beach High.
