Lakeland Armed Robbery Suspect Recognized As Former Employee

LAKELAND -- A Lakeland woman is in jail facing charges that could put her away for life after getting recognized at a place where she used to work.

Police say 33 year old Iesha Williams wore a mask while she robbed a McDonald's on South Florida Avenue early Sunday at gunpoint and forced staffers to the back of the store.

But workers recognized Williams as a former employee of the restaurant.

Police found her and her car half an hour later, with her mask, money and weapon inside.

Williams faces charges of armed kidnapping, armed robbery and evidence tampering. The first two are life felonies under Florida statutes.
