Florida Cabinet Votes On Buying Central FL Warehouse For Hurricane Supplies

TALLAHASSEE -- The state cabinet is set to vote Wednesday morning on buying a warehouse in central Florida to serve as a hurricane supply hub.

The more than 400-thousand square foot warehouse along I-4 near Auburndale would be used to store and move suppies during a hurricane or other emergencies.

According to the Cabinet agenda, the building would be retrofitted with docks, cold storage and space for trailers, command centers, and other disaster equipment as well as offices and workstations for a hundred people, and a training center for the state division of emergency management.

State lawmakers have approved up to 75 million to buy the property and up to 116 million for the project overall.
