Father and Son Accused of Assaulting Motorcyclist At Gunpoint in Lee County

Lee County, FL - A father and son are facing charges after allegedly hitting a motorcyclist with their SUV and holding him at gunpoint on Saturday.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office reported receiving a call about an aggravated battery at 9:53 p.m. near Gladiolus Preserve Circle and Gladiolus Drive.

Deputies arrived to find the victim distressed, with a ripped shirt and labored breathing.

According to the victim, he was riding with a friend when an SUV cut him off and brake-checked him, causing his brakes to lock up and nearly resulting in a crash.

"It was an experience. Then his son comes out and tackles me, they're both attacking me at the same time. It was just unreal... what anger can do to people's state of mind. Thinking clearly just completely went out the window for them," said Benjamin Podgorski, one of the motorcyclists involved.

The second motorcyclist, Zachary Dombowski, added, "I said to Ben, we gotta get this guy's license plate."

The SUV allegedly pursued the motorcyclists along Gladiolus Drive, with the driver, Troy Speckman, confronting the men and brandishing a gun.

Reports state that Troy Speckman drove into the wrong lane to intentionally crash into Podgorski's motorcycle, throwing him off and lodging him under the front of the SUV.

Troy's son, Brendan Speckman, then exited the vehicle and tackled Podgorski.

A fight ensued, but Podgorski managed to retrieve his motorcycle and flee the scene.

The victims reported the SUV's license plate to deputies, leading to the arrest of the Speckmans at their home.

DNA evidence was collected from the SUV.

Troy Speckman faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, while Brendan Speckman is charged with battery.
