DUI Arrest After Crash Involving Firefighter Responding To Bear-Car Crash

Naples, FL - A firefighter responding to a bear collision on I-75 was injured after being struck by a DUI driver who is now facing charges.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash on Interstate 75 near the Bayshore Road exit in North Fort Myers.

According to reports, a firefighter responding to the scene of a separate crash involving a bear was struck by a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Herminio Olvera Sanchez.

The firefighter sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities report that Sanchez is facing charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and driving without a license.

The northbound lanes of I-75 were closed for several hours following the incident.
