A stretch of roadway in the Lake Worth area that's been closed for over a year is not going to open this month as planned.
The Sixth Avenue South bridge off I-95 will remain closed until at least August.
The road has been shut down for construction between Congress Avenue and Grove Street and the work was supposed to be finished in the next few weeks. But the county says some of the concrete on the new bridge failed a quality assurance test so it had to be demolished.
While the headaches for drivers will continue, taxpayers won't be footing the bill for any excess costs. County officials say the removal and repair of the deficient concrete area is being conducted at the contractor's expense.
