It's The Last Day Of School In Miami-Dade County

The clock is ticking for more than 330,000 kids and the nearly 35,000 employees of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the third largest school district in the country.

But Miami-Dade Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jose Dotres stresses, "The school district does not sleep over the summer."

Seventy campuses will remain open with its Summer 305 programs.

"Many of our students can participate in enrichment activities, and also credit recovery, or remember, trying to make sure that they accelerate."

He's hoping more than 3,000 high school students will get real-world insight - and some extra cash - by participating in the Summer Youth Internship Program.

With a continues focus on mental health, support will continue all summer long for students and families.

Families should refer back to their schools, but if they don't the general phone number for parental and student mental health support is 305-995-7100.

Free breakfasts and lunches will be available for kids at 180 schools through the Summer BreakSpot program.

Monday is the last day of school in Broward.

School resumes on August 12th in Broward and August 15th in Miami-Dade.
