Miami, FL - Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a "bloody" fight at the Federal Correctional Institution Miami on Saturday.
According to federal correctional officers, the incident, believed to be a clash between rival Puerto Rican and Mexican gang members, resulted in injuries to inmates at the low-security facility.
FCI Miami is located near ZooMiami at 15801 SW 137th Avenue.
This is not the first incident of concern at the prison.
Earlier this year, a Puerto Rican inmate escaped the facility before being apprehended.
Sources familiar with the prison's environment claim that gang violence, particularly involving Puerto Rican gangs like La Asociación ÑETA and El Grupo De Los 27, is a recurring issue.
