A Palm Beach County man will be punished for his role in the January 6th riot. The US Justice Department announced on Monday that Boca Raton's Richard Cook was convicted Friday of felony civil disorder and five misdemeanors.
The 38-year-old joined a mob that relentlessly attacked police officers in the Capitol's Lower West Terrace Tunnel. Prosecutors say while Cook and others pushed against police officers, one officer screamed in pain as the weight of the rioters' pushes pinned him between a shield and a door.
Cook will be sentenced in late August.
