Stuart City Commissioners have delayed a vote on rezoning property for a proposed drug and alcohol rehab. Perserverance Recovery Center is requesting the delay.
The company wants to turn a vacant assisted living facility along Indian Street into a new facility that would be called Clarity Pointe. That requires the area be rezoned from residential to mixed-use development.
Martin County Sheriff William Snyder was planning to testify about the rezoning.
The issue was tabled until May 13th and in a Facebook post the Sheriff's Office says Snyder intends to speak in reference to it at that time.
An earlier post from the sheriff's office noted that the sheriff believes drawing this clientele from around the country to the community will further diminish the quality of life in Martin County.
