Felon Arrested for Attack on Disabled Man in Aventura Mall Bathroom

Aventura, FL - Aventura police arrested a 38-year-old man on Sunday after a violent incident in the mall's bus terminal bathroom.

According to authorities, Michael Jerome Parrish entered an occupied accessible stall and assaulted a disabled homeless man who was using the restroom.

The victim defended himself with a knife, cutting Parrish's hand in the process.

The report states Parrish fled the bathroom and attacked another elderly man before police arrived.

He was taken to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital for a medical evaluation before being booked.

Parrish now faces felony charges for burglary with assault or battery, and lewd and lascivious battery on a vulnerable adult.

A misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge was also added.

A Miami-Dade judge ordered him held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Public records revealed Parrish has a criminal history, including previous prison sentences for robbery and assaulting a law enforcement officer in Palm Beach and Broward counties.
