Zoo Miami's communications director Ron Magill says he received a letter from the Miami-Dade mayor that the county has rescinded the lease with Miami Wilds to build a water park on environmentally sensitive land near the zoo.
Magill fought against the lease placing his own job in jeopardy. He says for the first time in his 44-year career with Zoo Miami "the environment has won over development."
Magill says he's sure the issue will go into litigation, but for now the Miami Wilds lease has been rescinded per a letter from Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava
