The Villages, FL - A 73-year-old man has been arrested for assaulting a female employee at a restaurant in The Villages.
Police say the assault occurred at Cody's Original Roadhouse in The Villages when 73-year-old Stephen Serwo assaulted a female employee by striking her in the face.
The Sumter County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Serwo, a resident of The Villages, was booked into the Sumter County jail on a charge of battery.
The assault took place on Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. as the victim observed Serwo entering the restaurant and proceeding toward the kitchen, which is restricted to the public.
The female employee attempted to explain the restriction, leading to Serwo allegedly striking the victim in the face, causing an injury to her nose.
Witnesses at the scene corroborated the victim's account, with one man reporting that he saw Serwo strike the woman in the face and engage in a confrontation with other employees.
Deputies located Serwo at a nearby restaurant and took him into custody.
During questioning, Serwo claimed no recollection of hitting anyone and was uncertain about the details.
Serwo was taken into custody and released from jail the following day after posting a $500 bond.
