Former Miami-Dade Schools Board Member Arrested

Former Miami-Dade School Board member Lubby Navarro is facing criminal charges after the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office accused her of using school funds for her personal benefit.

Navarro served on the school board from 2015-2022.

She resigned at the end of 2022 because of a - then - new state law that bans certain elected officials from being lobbyists.

Navarro is a lobbyist for the South Broward Hospital District.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney is set to hold a news conference with details of the case at 2:30 this afternoon.

Miami-Dade Schools' Chief Communications Officer Vivian M. Santiesteban-Pardo releasing this statement:

Miami-Dade County Public Schools has been made aware of the recent arrest of former School Board Member Lubby Navarro. As this remains an active, open matter, we will not be commenting on this situation. We will fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies as necessary.
