21-Year-Old Arrested Following 145 MPH High Speed Chase

Lee County, FL - The Florida Highway Patrol arrested a 21-year-old woman on Thursday following a high-speed chase that reached speeds of 145 mph.

According to police, Cecilia Elise Hoffman was arrested after leading Florida Highway Patrol troopers on a high-speed chase that culminated in a crash on Thursday morning.

Initial reports from the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that Hoffman was observed traveling at speeds of over 145 mph on northbound I-75.

Despite a trooper's attempt to initiate a traffic stop, Hoffman took evasive action, exiting onto SR-82 eastbound.

The pursuit intensified as Hoffman accelerated to speeds exceeding 120 mph on Colonial Boulevard.

Ultimately, troopers managed to halt the BMW by employing a PIT maneuver.

Video footage captured Hoffman exiting the vehicle and attempting to flee on foot, prompting a brief pursuit before her apprehension.

She faces charges of DUI, Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement, Resisting Without Violence, and Reckless Driving.
