Daytona Beach, FL - Recently released video footage from the Florida Highway Patrol captured an October high-speed chase that reached speeds of 146 mph across Brevard and Volusia counties.
Authorities say the pursuit began on October 10th on County Road 5A in north Brevard County.
On Thursday, the state attorney's office released the last four minutes of the tense dashcam video capturing the chase.
The footage revealed 19-year-old Marcell Jones, of Daytona Beach, weaving recklessly through traffic, driving on the shoulder, and venturing onto the wrong side of State Road 44.
A few miles later, near the intersection of SR-44 and I-415 in Volusia County, Jones lost control of the Challenger.
The dashcam video captured FHP troopers attempting a PIT maneuver, causing the Dodge's rear bumper to fall off.
During the pursuit, troopers reported seeing a distraught young passenger in the back seat looking back at them through the rear window with her hands clasped in prayer.
Jones' relationship to the child remains unknown.
He was arrested on charges of fleeing to elude, reckless driving, and child abuse
